Renewed hope for diabetic patients, reveals Consultant Endocrinologist, Dr. Manilka Sumanatileke

  • Medication free treatment to reverse diabetes
Diabetes is a common non-communicable disease in which the patient’s blood glucose (sugar) levels are high. Both children and adults are susceptible to this disease. While the wider society is divided on diabetes medication and side effects, there is good news in the research and development front for reversing the disease. It is possible to check the onset of diabetes if it is diagnosed early. The following article was compiled in discussion with Consultant Endocrinologist, Dr Manilka Sumanatileke (Colombo General Hospital/ Hemas Hospital Thalawathugoda Diabetes and Endocrine Unit (Outpatient) who spoke at length about diabetes and how it can be reversed in some cases. Types of diabetes Anyone with a blood sugar level of over 126 milligrams is considered a diabetes patient. There are two Types of diabetes. With Type 1 diabetes, the patient’s body does not make insulin. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the patient’s body does not make enough insulin. Type 1 diabetes is generally triggered when children’s immune system mistakenly destroys pancreatic beta cells, leading to progressively decreasing insulin secretion. Various environmental and genetic conditions can contribute to the onset of Type 1 diabetes. Even though genetics can contribute to the onset of Type 2 diabetes, most often it is caused by lifestyle factors such as lack of exercise and consumption of unhealthy food. Overweight (BMI of over 30) individuals are at a higher risk of Type 2 diabetes. Treatment Apart from insulin treatment, there are 11 other drugs that are used to control diabetes. Doctors determine the right kind of medication based on the overall condition of the individual.  However, there is the very real possibility of reversing diabetes without medication. There are numerous treatment options that involve a drug-free approach. Some previously diabetic persons out there have been successfully managing their condition for over five to ten years by sticking to a diet and getting regular exercise. One of the clinical research studies into diabetes management has proven that with a liquid diet of 850 calories per day, along with regular workout, diabetes can be reversed and successfully managed. Some advanced cases of diabetes require a lengthy hospital stay and insulin therapy to reverse the condition. Modern medication can be used to successfully manage blood sugar levels. Certain diabetes medication is used to flush excess sugar out of the body through urine. While medication can be used to manage diabetes and allow the patient to lead an active life, the disease is not curable. In the case of individuals who are overweight (A BMI above 35), conducting a bariatric surgery to reduce the size of the stomach can help reverse diabetes by 70 percent. Apart from that, there are numerous other gastrointestinal surgical procedures which could improve diabetic conditions. However, following bariatric surgery, patients will have to stick to a strict diet or risk reversing back to the previous state of health. Similarly, there are number of other ways to reverse Type 2 diabetes without medication. There is more good news. Researchers have found new methods to reverse even Type 1 diabetes. If caught early, there is a chance that Type 1 diabetes can be treated with immunotherapy to limit beta cell death. One of the most promising strategies that are being researched is to implant beta cells generated from embryonic (fetal) stem cells in to the liver to treat Type 1 diabetes. Medical researchers hope that when blood sugar levels rise, the implants will release insulin to restore them to normal. Research further revealed that in this case, the chances of success diminish after the first five years of the onset of diabetes. While these new procedures bring hope to diabetic patients, Sri Lankans as a rule are reluctant to commit to such complex procedures which require a great deal of commitment from patients too. Most methods require the patient to be hospitalized for about two weeks. In addition, he or she must stick to a strict diet of soup in the morning and a liquid supplement during the daytime. The patient should lose 15kg before the procedure and replace starchy food with protein. The procedure also involves an exercise regime. Following the procedure, the patient can lead a normal life up to five years without medication as long as he or she sticks to the diet and exercise plan. Patients can switch to a normal diet as long as they methodically change the calorie intake. Side effects of Diabetes medication Drug related side effects are common but most of the time mild. There is a common misconception about the relation between diabetes medication and kidney damage. The factual truth is that excessive blood sugar contributes to the deterioration of kidneys. There is no connection between the use of medication and kidney damage. However, if a patient’s kidneys have already sustained damage, drugs such as metformin can cause certain side effects. Other minor side effects of diabetes medication include, nausea, gas, bloating, diarrhea and abnormal weight loss. In such cases, doctors prescribe alternative medication depending on the patient. The relation between feet and diabetes Dr Manilka explains that we pay little attention to feet. Diabetes can affect nerves and cause poor blood flow leading to developing ulcers or gangrene. If uncontrolled diabetes has affected the nerves on a patient’s feet, he or she may be numb to the pain caused by a cut which can lead to an infection. Sometimes, slow blood flow can weaken the effect of antibiotics which in turn can cause infections to get worse. Patients with uncontrolled diabetes are even at the risk of losing their feet or legs if proper care is not applied. Diabetic patients should pay extra attention to even small acts such as trimming nails on toes. Even a small cut near toe nails can get infected. Diabetic patients should always keep the spaces between their toes clean and dry to prevent infections. In most cases, cellulitis (a bacterial infection) can escalate in to a major infection. Slow blood flow can impair the effectiveness of antibiotics to cause the patient to lose the infected leg.  Thalawathugoda Hemas Hospital provides comprehensive and modern care to patients at its Diabetic Centre. The Diabetic centre is well-equipped with the latest technology and a team of highly qualified and experienced consultants provide guidance to patients. Currently, a large number of patients have registered with the Diabetic Centre at Hemas Hospital Thalawathugoda to receive expert care from renowned Endocrinologists. The mobile video summit 2019 was successfully completed with awarding of certificates to 24 MoJo storytellers for their commitment active participation to raise a voice for the voiceless in their respective districts on 23rd February 2019, at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. Mobile Journalism is an effective tool to address the voice poverty of vulnerable groups in the rural settings. Sri Lanka Development Journalist forum (SDJF) trained 30 young MoJo storytellers for the first time in Sri Lanka, selected from Jaffna, Matara and Trincomalee Districts and were mentored in the use of mobile phones to tell evidence based stories for effective advocacy in resolving selected problems. These storytellers produced more than 30 stories and engaged in advocacy with relevant stakeholders of their respective districts. These young MoJo storytellers gathered in Colombo on 23rd March 2019 at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute to showcase their Mobile stories and to engage in a national level discussion by way of Mobile Video Summit 2019. This is the first time such a summit was organized in Sri Lanka. More than 50 young storytellers, journalists, media enthusiasts and other dignitaries participated in the summit. During the summit the mobile stories produced by these young storytellers were screened while they also shared their success stories and how the skill of mobile storytelling has been useful for them to create a voice for the marginalized people and their concerns for greater social awareness. The summit brought together the MoJo storytellers with senior journalists of renowned media stations as well as other established journalists. A panel discussion followed under the theme ‘Role of New Media to capture marginalized voices’. The panelists Mr. Kumara Alagiyawanna from SLRC, Mr. Manjula Ethugala from ITN, Mr. M.J.R David from SLBC, Mr. D. Ramakishna from Dan TV, Ms. Radika Gunaratna the editor of Lanka News Web and Mr. Mohommed Bisrin from UTV engaged in a dynamic discussion with putting forward their views and experience on how new media can have a potential impact on telling the stories of the marginalized communities. The discussion was moderated by Samanthika Priyadarshani, Senior Lecturer, Department of Mass Media and Communication, University of Kelaniya. “State media has limitations in including marginalized voices due to its own challenges within the institution and also because it has to focus more on professionalism and quality of programmes. Therefore, merging new media with the mainstream media is a real challenge in Sri Lanka”, Kumara Alagiyawanna, SLRC. “Mainstream media too is now becoming dependent on the new media, for example ’Jallikattu’ protest in India first became viral using new media, but went on to seek the attention of the mainstream media later on. Therefore, one can see a changing trend. Viral nature is a critical virtue of the new media, which needs community standards set by the community for it to be sustained in the future”, Mr. Ramakrishna, DANTV. “It is a complex Media eco-system that is prevailing in Sri Lanka. Therefore it is difficult now to draw a clear line between ‘Mainstream’ and ‘New Media’. There is an opportunity to include marginalized voices in the mainstream media. The government has already appointed a committee to see the possibility to transform state media into a ‘public own media’, but what ‘public media’ remains still debatable?” – Sudarshana Gunawardana, Chief Guest, Committee Member and human rights activist. The summit also featured a press briefing where the storytellers further shared their experience with journalists and answered the questions raised by them concerning mobile storytelling. This ‘MoJo video Summit – 2019’ was organized by the Sri Lanka Development Journalist Forum (SDJF) as part of Digital Empowerment of Vulnerable Groups to Address Voice Poverty (DEV-GAP) and was supported by the Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust (NTT). In his keynote address at MWC 2019, Rotating Chairman Guo Ping calls for global 3rd party assurance to cyber security. Guo Ping, Huawei’s Rotating Chairman, calls for international collaboration on industry standards and appeals to governments across the world to listen to cyber security experts. His requests come during a keynote speech at Mobile World Congress 2019. Huawei is the first company to deploy 5G networks at scale, Guo said. His MWC 2019 keynote address – “Bringing you 5G safer, faster, smarter” – outlined how Huawei has developed the most powerful, simple, and intelligent 5G networks in the world, and argued that such innovation is nothing without security. He urges the industry and governments to work together and adopt unified cyber security standards.   Summary of MWC 2019 keynote address by Guo Ping, Rotating Chairman, Huawei:
  1. Innovation
Guo used the first half of his keynote to outline Huawei’s position as the global leader in 5G but asserted that security is the basis of the company’s commitment to innovation.
  • “Huawei is the first company that can deploy 5G networks at scale. More importantly, we can deliver the simplest possible sites with better performance.”
  • “The more we invest in engineering science, the more value we can create. At Huawei, we can bring powerful, simple, and intelligent 5G networks to carriers anywhere in the world, faster than anyone else. Huawei is the global leader in 5G. But we understand innovation is nothing without security.”
  1. Security
In the second half of the keynote, Guo responded to recent allegations directed at Huawei by the U.S. government and called for fact-based regulation, referring to the recommendations made by GSMA, the industry organization for mobile network operators worldwide, for governments and mobile operators to work together.
  • “To build a secure cyber environment for everyone, we need standards, we need fact-based regulation, and we need to work together.”
  • “To build a system that we all can trust, we need aligned responsibilities, unified standards, and clear regulation.”
  • “I fully agree with recent recommendations: Governments and mobile operators should work together to agree upon Europe’s assurance testing and certification regime. NESAS is a very good idea and I would recommend extending it to the world.”
  • “Huawei has not and will never plant backdoors. And we will never allow anyone else to do so in our equipment.”
  • The irony is that the US CLOUD Act allows their governmental entities to access data across borders.
FULL TEXT: Guo Ping’s Keynote at MWC Barcelona 2019 Bringing you 5G safer, faster, smarter Ladies and gentlemen, good morning. It’s great to see you all again. There has never been more interest in Huawei. We must be doing something right. Of course, the past few months have been a challenge for us. On one hand, our 5G solutions are widely recognized in the industry. On the other hand, there has been a lot of speculation about the security of our 5G solutions. Today, I would like to talk about Huawei’s latest innovations and our views on cyber security. Innovation – It’s all in the details On the 2018 EU R&D Investment Scoreboard, Huawei ranks number 5 globally. Last year, we invested more than 15 billion US dollars. This consistent investment has produced many positive results. Through nonstop investment, we can keep providing our customers with new, innovative products and more efficient services. 5G is a perfect example of this. Powerful. Simple. Intelligent. Huawei is the first company that can deploy 5G networks at scale. More importantly, we can deliver the simplest possible sites with better performance. With 100 megahertz, our 5G can reach more than 14 gigs-per-second; that’s for a single sector. We are at the leading edge of performance. Strong capacity also needs strong transmission equipment.
  • If fiber is available, we only need to install a blade, attach one fiber, and we can bring bandwidth up to 200 Gbps. It’s incredible.
  • If fiber is not available, carriers can use microwave. However, the bandwidth of traditional microwave is only 1 Gbps. To address this problem, we use innovative architecture to boost that bandwidth to 20 Gbps.
  • With our 5G smartphone and CPE, Huawei is able to provide end-to-end 5G solutions. We have begun to help carriers deploy 5G at scale.
Proven in field tests and commercial use Last month, Zealer published a report, saying that Huawei’s 5G is 20 times faster than the so-called 5G in the US. That’s in field tests. In commercial use, it is not 20 times faster, but it’s still much, much faster. So I fully understand what President Donald Trump said last week. The United States needs powerful, faster, and smarter 5G. In the two charts on the left, we have the results from IMT-2020’s phase 3 tests in China. As you can see, Huawei is far ahead of the game when it comes to single site throughput. The third chart compares the speeds of a commercial 5G network deployed by several vendors. This is a real customer network. On Huawei 5G, single user speed reaches 1.3 Gbps.   Powerful Innovation is in the details. Let’s start with capacity.
  • For example, with performance algorithm, we can more than triple cell throughput.
  • For hardware, our 5G chips support 64 channels, the highest in the industry. We have also increased the computing power of these chips by 2.5 times.
For microwave, we can support 10 times greater transmission bandwidth than other solutions on the market. Little by little, we are pushing the physical limits of our technology. Simple We are also making sites as simple as possible, without sacrificing performance. For example, if we made 64T antennas with old techniques, one 5G antenna would be bigger than a door. Can you imagine installing that? If we put one here on the beach, it would be blown down. To address this issue, we are using new materials. We have reduced the number of components by 99%, and with lighter covers, we can reduce weight by 40%. These new AAUs are as wide as a backpack and very strong. They can survive grade-15 typhoons. This happened in Shenzhen last year. Installation is super easy. We can install them directly on a 4G site, or even on a lamp pole. Simple sites greatly reduce carrier CAPEX and OPEX. In Europe, where space is limited, we can help you save 10,000 euros on site rental, every site, every year. Intelligent In the telecom industry, someone said we are using 5G networks of the 21st century. However, network Operation and Maintenance is still in the 18th century. Let’s look at one figure. Globally, 70% of network faults are from human limitations. To make life easier for carriers, our goal is to build intelligent networks. Last October, Huawei launched the world’s most powerful AI chips: Ascend 910 and Ascend 310. We can use these to bring intelligence to all scenarios, and reduce computing power costs for carrier networks. Building on these chips, Huawei has developed many algorithms and models for carrier networks. With AI, we can increase resource efficiency, make O&M easier, and reduce power consumption for telecom networks. Conclusion The more we invest in engineering science, the more value we can create. At Huawei, we can bring powerful, simple, and intelligent 5G networks to carriers anywhere in the world, faster than anyone else. Huawei is the global leader in 5G. But we understand innovation is nothing without security. And that brings me to my second topic. Cyber security Prism Prism, prism on the wall. Who’s the most trustworthy of them all? It’s an important question to ask. And if you don’t understand this question, go ask Edward Snowden. We can’t use prisms, crystal balls, or politics to manage cyber security. It’s a challenge we all share. Unified standards and aligned responsibilities To build a system that we all can trust, we need aligned responsibilities, unified standards, and clear regulation. Responsibility There are three areas of responsibility:
  • Technology providers have responsibility.
  • Carriers have responsibility.
  • The industry and regulators have responsibility.
Technology providers Let me start with technology providers, like us. For technology providers, our responsibility is to comply with standards and build secure equipment. With 5G, we have made a lot of progress over 4G, and we can proudly say that 5G is safer than 4G. As vendors, we don’t operate carrier networks, and we don’t own carrier data. Our responsibility, what we promise, is that we don’t do bad things. Here, let me say this as clearly as possible: Huawei has not and will never plant backdoors. And we will never allow anyone to do so in our equipment. We take this responsibility very seriously. Carriers Carriers are responsible for the secure operations of their own networks. 5G networks are private networks. The boundaries between different networks are clear. Carriers can prevent external attacks with firewalls and security gateways. For internal threats, carriers can manage, monitor, and audit all vendors and partners to make sure their network elements are secure. Industry and regulators Finally, as an industry, we all need to work together on standards. This is our shared responsibility. To build safer networks, we need to standardize cyber security requirements. And these standards must be verifiable for all vendors and all carriers. NESAS is jointly defined by GSMA and 3GPP, and it is a very good idea. Huawei fully supports this scheme. In fact, 3GPP’s security standards were created with the support of many government security agencies. These agencies have strong capabilities to verify 5G security. So, I fully agree with recent recommendations: Governments and mobile operators should work together to agree what this assurance testing and certification regime for Europe will be. And I would recommend extending NESAS to the world. Let the experts decide whether networks are safe or not. Best Technology, Greater Security Huawei has had a strong track record in security for three decades, serving three billion people around the world. The US security accusation on our 5G has no evidence, nothing. The irony is that the U.S. CLOUD Act allows their governmental entities to access data across borders. So, for best technology and greater security, choose Huawei. MWC 2019 was held from February 25 to February 28 in Barcelona, Spain. Huawei showcased its products and solutions at booth 1H50 in Fira Gran Via Hall 1, booth 3I30 in Hall 3, the Innovation City zone in Hall 4, and booths 7C21 and 7C31 in Hall 7. The chance for aspiring homeowners to claim a rare deal on an opulent apartment housed within Iconic Galaxy, a luxurious 33-storey structure nestled within Rajagiriya whose illustrious occupants will include the likes of beloved Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez, is rapidly fading, with the offer set to conclude on March 10. This unique deal allows potential residents to save as much as 24% on interest, as homeowners need to pay just Rs. 6 million or 20% of the final price to book an Iconic Galaxy apartment, with any further payments only due after the apartment is occupied. This easy payment scheme, a first in the industry, is already linked to leading banks. “We have good news for buyers who have chosen an Iconic Galaxy apartment they love but are not ready or able to purchase it just yet and who may need a year or two to bump up their credit, income or savings,” said Iconic Developments Managing Director Rohan Parikh. “Luckily, future buyers may not have to wait long. Our zero-interest home-buying programme is a dream offer. A 20% down payment and no other payment until the time you move in is our offer to those who are keen to purchase a home. This works well for buyers who may not want to take a home loan and for which some other offers which can be customised to their specific requirements could be arranged.” The past month has seen a wave of interest directed at Iconic Galaxy, as potential buyers rushed to purchase a modern living space equipped with amenities which combine quality, comfort and convenience. These consist of a landscaped rooftop garden, swimming pool, kid’s pool, two squash courts, launderette, day care centre, salon and gymnasium. Iconic’s other features include an observatory offering scenic views of the skyline, private hotel rooms within an apartment complex, an elegant clubhouse, leisure zones such as play areas for kids, jogging tracks and expansive walkways, a business centre and an auditorium. Aside from Iconic Galaxy’s luxurious lodgings, buyers were also keen to reside in Rajagiriya due to the fact that it is an area which is rapidly developing and centrally-located. It affords residents easy access to popular business and shopping precincts as well as the airport and Southern Expressway. Iconic Developments entered this evolving suburb with its first development Iconic 110 Parliament Road. Its subsequent projects have seen an overwhelming response from customers looking for premium residences in this locality. Construction on Iconic Galaxy is set for completion by the end of 2021, with work progressing swiftly. Actress and Iconic Galaxy brand ambassador Fernandez was pleasantly surprised by the rate of this progress, with seven floors of the building already up. Urging others to avail themselves of this deal, she declared: “If you’re house-hunting right now or maybe even want to be my neighbour, don’t miss out on Iconic Galaxy’s dream buy offer. It’s a big one!” For more information on Iconic Galaxy, visit www.iconic.lk

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), SLASSCOM and Hatch recently hosted an awareness session on the Empower Board, discussing specific opportunities for startups and entrepreneurs. Insights shared at the event offered participants perspective on why a new wave of tech companies globally are opting to tap into public funding through initial public offerings (IPOs) to spur their next phase of expansion, and the opportunities available to Sri Lankan tech companies and startups to pursue similar benefits through accessing public funds. The Empower Board was presented as an effective means through which Sri Lankan startups and progressive entrepreneurs could fund growth initiatives and achieve an overall transformation of their business. The requirements and the process involved with a listing on the Empower Board have been tailored to capture the context of young and growing companies, and largely vary from the other listing platforms at the CSE. Companies listing on Empower are set to operate in an environment where they will benefit from the advisory role of a CSE approved Sponsor, which will offer the company pre and post listing support. The Empower Board was introduced in 2018 and is similar to a number of listing platforms launched by peer stock exchanges from around the world targeting growth companies, particularly entities that are in an early-mid stage of their lifecycle. Growing Tech Company listings are a frequent occurrence in peer foreign markets such as Malaysia, India, Poland, Malta and Sweden, which demonstrates the potential for Sri Lankan startups to emulate similar success in the Sri Lankan capital market. Speakers at the event included the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission Mr. Ranel Wijesinha, CSE CEO Mr. Rajeeva Bandaranaike and Managing Director at LYNEAR Wealth Management (Pvt) Limited Mr. Naveen Gunawardane. The speakers also were subsequently joined by the Chairman at SLASSCOM Mr. Jeevan Gnanam and the Head of Listings at CSE Ms. Vinduni Dullewe for a discussion with the audience. Empower Board Sponsors, who are pivotal to guiding companies interested in listing on the Empower Board, were also present at the event. Since launching the Empower Board, the CSE in association with the SEC has embarked on an awareness drive in key regions around the country, creating awareness on equity-based capital raising options available to entrepreneurs and growth companies. Startups and tech companies are invited to connect with the CSE to discuss how they too can achieve a listing on the Empower Board to spur on the company’s growth agenda. Details on eligibility of listing and the process could also be obtained through www.cse.lk

  • Installs first roof-top solar power system with a capacity of 0.5MW
  • Commences third mini hydropower plant in Lippakelle, total contribution to the national grid stands at 7MWh
Further expanding on sustainable and greener energy opportunities, Sunshine Energy (Pvt) Ltd (SEL), a fully owned subsidiary of Sunshine Holdings PLC, installed their first roof-top solar PV system in Kelaniya. With a capacity of 0.5MW (500kW), the solar panels are expected to generate around 65,250kWh of electricity per month. Spanning across an area of over 35,000 sqft, the newest green initiative of the organization will also lead to an annual net carbon emission reduction of 532MT of CO2, this translates to the planting of 26,600 new trees per annum, , which paves a path to support government’s vision of sourcing 100% renewable electricity by 2050. With the nation set on a growth trajectory, the demand for electricity is definitely on the rise. Being Sri Lanka’s predominant power source, thermal power relies heavily on non-renewable fossil fuels which results in higher foreign exchange outflows and adverse environmental implication due to greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. “The installation of our solar PV system is a momentous occasion for us. It further reinstates the ambition of the nation, which is to transform Sri Lanka to a green energy producer, and we at Sunshine takes great pride in doing our part towards this,” said Vish Govindasamy, Group Managing Director of Sunshine Holdings. “The solar system essentially supports to meet the gaps in the growing electricity demand through sustainable means. Through renewable sources such as this, we could significantly bring down the per household cost of electricity, while adhering and aligning ourselves to the government’s energy policy and plan of meeting the Country’s total demand from renewable sources” added Govindasamy. As a Group, Sunshine has identified captive roof capacity of more than 2MW – through initial desktop studies to carry out roof-top solar. During the next few years, Sunshine Energy is bullish in taking on more opportunities within the solar space -either through organic investments or through strategic partnerships. Furthermore, the Group has further reinforced their commitment towards producing green energy by commissioning their third mini hydropower plant in January 2019.  Located in Lippakelle in the Lindula Region, the 2.4MW hydropower plant was built under the supervision of SEL’s new hydropower subsidiary, Elgin Hydropower (Pvt) Ltd. With the addition of the third plant, Sunshine Energy now contributes close to 7MW to the national grid through their mini hydropower plants. Two of SEL’s subsidiaries, Waltrim Hydropower (Pvt) Ltd and Upper Waltrim Hydropower (Pvt) Ltd operate two mini-hydropower plants in Lindula, Talawakelle, with a combined capacity of 4.2MW. About Sunshine Holdings: Sunshine Holdings PLC is a diversified holding company contributing to ‘nation building’ by creating value in vital sectors of the Sri Lankan economy – including healthcare, agribusiness, fast-moving consumer goods and renewable energy. Many of its business units are leaders in their respective sectors, have secured partnerships with top global brands and have won prestigious awards at the national as well as the regional level. The leading brands of the group include Zesta, Healthguard, Watawala Tea, Pedia Plus and Diabeta Plus. The Estate Management Services Limited (EMS), the agri-business arm of Sunshine Holdings PLC, manages Watawala Plantations, Sri Lanka’s largest palm oil producer and Hatton Plantations, one of the largest tea producers in Sri Lanka. The company’s healthcare marketing unit is the second largest in its sector nationally. Its tea sector also consists of Sri Lanka’s best-selling tea brand locally. The group, which provides employment to approximately 10,000, generates over US$ 138 million in revenue.
